I am so glad I found you on Twitter! I love chick lit books myself and find that a lot if not most of them deal with deep issues like alcholism (sp)/abuse/anorexia/death in a way readers can relate but some authors like Marian Keyes also write in a sharp, witty, no nonsense way.
My favourite book of all time (well chick lit) is Anna Maxted’s Getting Over It about Helen’s father’s death. It is so good that when a friend of mine’s father died, I could actually relate.
Like you, I have always been a reader, I have also always liked hiding out in my room and reading - it is my solace, my escape and over many years has become my connection with others, my career for three years ( I owned a second hand book shop) and it has helped with marketing, socialising, finding authors to interview for the writers’ centre I am working at and now like you I am looking at blogging as a future and being involved with books.
So I am really glad I found you. I really love books and reading and waste so much time on the net social networking and marketing around books, authors, writers and writing groups. Ironic isn’t it - that once we were considered bookworms and complete nerds and now readers are getting their own with all our blogs and love of books!
Speaking of my favourite book of all time - it’s Wonderland Avenue by Danny Sugarman
